Tips For a Successful Friendsgiving

Tips For a Successful Friendsgiving

Everyone’s favorite holiday for eating and glamming up for your living room is right around the corner. Before all the food (and uncomfortable) family fun, you might want to consider having a Friendsgiving. Trust us, it’s a lot less pressure to have all your sh*t together and no one is saying thinly veiled racist comments at the table *cough, Uncle Jack, cough* Of course, like any party you try to plan, problems are sure to arise, but we’ll give you some tips to ensure everything runs smoothly.

It’s the sexiest word you’ve ever heard: spreadsheet. We know it sounds kind of lame, but TRUST US, it’s going to make everything so much easier. Make a list of everything you’ll need so you don’t somehow end up without a turkey. You can make it collaborative so everyone can check off once they’ve taken care of something. That way, you don’t end up with 2 turkeys. If you’re not a Virgo, or just not as controlling over party details, at least think about a sign up sheet. That way, everyone can decide what they’re going to bring and it won’t clash with or double any of the dishes.

There’s always going to be leftovers, that’s just a given. If you’re hosting, that means you’re eating Mac and cheese for every meal for the next week. Truly of all the problems to have,  this is high on the list of good ones. But even better than more mashed potatoes than you know what to do with? Extra bottles of wine. Every friend should bring a bottle no matter what their dish is and the host keeps the unopened bottles. Sorry, those are the rules. I don’t make them, just enforce them. And if there are no left over bottles? Even better, it means your Friendsgiving was the place to be!

We’ll be honest, you don’t start throwing great dinner parties until your late 30s. You’d be lucky at 23 that one of your friends isn’t trying to “drive the boat” before you all even sit down. Even if the spread ends up being a Taco Bell party pack and there’s handprint turkeys for decoration, you can still make it a special night with your friends by dressing for the occasion. Get a nice glam going with all your friends and it will instantly elevate the night. Our top 3 lash picks for a Friendsgiving weekend are Miami, Goddess, and Ela.
